Chris Sipes

Co-Founder

Chris received his BBA in Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. He began his career as an analyst in the commercial mortgage banking business at Texas Realty Capital. Amid the recession, Chris decided to pursue an opportunity at JLM Financial, a local Austin firm specializing in acquiring non-performing loans secured by commercial real estate.

While serving as Analyst at JLM, Chris honed his underwriting and valuation skills – performing due diligence on over $300M of loan portfolios. As JLM’s real estate portfolio expanded, he moved into the Director of Operations role where he gained valuable operational experience overseeing debt placement, property management, and disposition efforts.

Most recently, Chris served as a Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Caprock Partners (splitting most of his time between Texas and Puerto Rico). Caprock is a family office established to manage investments for the co-founders of Quantum Energy Partners. The company invests in real estate and operating businesses that have high barriers to entry, stabilized cash flows, and low technological requirements.

Chris is married to his wife Paige and together they have a daughter, Marigold and son, Leo. Upon returning to the States in early 2018 (and before the arrival of their kiddos), Paige and Chris decided to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. They renovated a 1973 Airstream trailer and journeyed through much of the United States and Canada, soaking in the wondrous beauty and rich history the country has to offer. It was a phenomenal interlude before settling back into Austin and starting Wayfinder.
