Matt Taylor

Managing Director - Acquisitions

As Managing Director of Acquisitions, Matt oversees the acquisition and research team across all stages of the investment process. He is responsible for sourcing immediate and future development sites as well as opportunistic investing in existing assets across all of Wayfinder’s markets.

Prior to joining Wayfinder, Matt spent 7+ years working up from intern to Vice President of Investments for Artesia Real Estate, an Austin-based private equity real estate firm. Responsible for investing activities nationally and across all product types, Matt directly oversaw and executed on $608mm in real estate transactions across 130 deals. Matt invested $224mm in capital in 33 properties on behalf of Artesia’s investors across a variety of strategies including 1,535 multifamily units, 510 hotel rooms, 140 acres of raw and covered urban infill land housing 1.52mm square feet of cash-flowing buildings (including retail, industrial assets to be redeveloped) and 240k square feet of adaptive re-use, creative office projects. These investments were made primarily in Austin, Salt Lake City, Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte, Denver, and Nashville, alongside the occasional adjacent market.

Matt received his BBA in Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. His career in investment started in college with internships at Hines and Legacy Trust Company in Houston as well as acting as a licensed Realtor at the 512 Group, transacting on 70+ sales and leases in the campus-area student housing market while in school.

Matt and his wife, Macey, live in West Austin with their daughter, Margot, and goldendoodle, Jax. Macey is also involved in the commercial real estate investment world, making them wonderful dinner guests (as long as you don’t want to talk about anything else!). Outside of work, Matt is involved heavily with mentoring students at the University of Texas and is on the Associate Council of the Real Estate Center at the University of Texas.
